Tuesday 6/6

Today we visited the Plaza de Toros to learn about the history of bull fighting and more about it!

After going home for lunch and for a little relaxing, we met back at SAIIE to go to a churrería close to school - it was soon good. There's another close to my house, but this place's chocolate was much yummier and more rich :)

We stayed at the school afterward to work on a 5pg paper for our monuments class - it was rough but glad it's done with!

Monday 6/5

Happy Monday!
First day of Composition and Conversation class went well! It is more of a grammar class, as the name suggests, but I thing grammar practice is kind of fun. Can you tell I'm going to be a teacher?Being at school form 8:30 to 3 is definitely like high school all over again, but goes by kind of quick.

We went to el Palacio de San Telmo - what used to be a navigation school and is now for the Spanish Parliament - and part of the University of Sevilla - what used to produce tobacco as the la Real Fábrica de Tobaccos de Sevilla.

There's some extra photos from Lagos as well!

Sunday 6/4

Buenos días from Portugal!
A little rough getting up this morning and packed up to head back to Sevilla, but my time in Portugal was SO fun. The weather was wonderful, the beach and ocean was beautiful, and it was overall a great time with everyone. It was really cool too because Lagos is a very international place - there are people that are Portuguese, from Australia, Spain, England...you name it! I can't wait to come back someday!

We rode the bus home and arrived around 3, and got a montadito (small sandwich) with Emilie, Ashley, Lilly, and Dee.

We then went home and slept for awhile, then the WiFi wasn't working so we went to the Plaza de Armas super close to our house. We got a cone at McDonald's to use their WiFi, but it wasn't working so we had to buy cheesecake at the Cafetería next to it to get there Wifi. Lost money and gained empty calories, but both were so so good!

When we got home we called it a night soon after dinner, because this week we will have classes from 8:30-3. We have both Sessions 1 and 2 this week, so that means 6 hours of classes. Wish me luck!

Saturday 6/3

Day 2 in Lagos!

We started the day by going on a boat tour through giant rocks that stick out from the water. It was super cool and fun! I took a lot of photos and videos on my GoPro and can't wait to make the video..when I get around to it!

After the boat tour we went right to the beach and were there for the next five hours. I could be a beach bum every day! Luckily no burn again; only an awkward one on the side of my back where the sun must have been hitting hard.

We then went home to shower up and get beautified before going out to eat at a Mexican place which was super yummy. We went out again tonight, after a little wine mostly because we wanted to get a fishbowl we heard about!

Friday 6/2

Off to Lagos, Portugal today!

But first class time; we went to el Museo de Bellas Artes filled with a ton of amazing paintings and sculptures from medieval times to the 20th century. It is the second most important museum in Spain, after Madrid's El Prado and after visiting it I can definitely agree! Our professor Reda told us that this one is possibly better than Madrid's because at Bellas Artes there aren't a hundred people crowding around one photo like there are at El Prado.

When class was done we headed to the bus to take us to Lagos, Portugal! After three hours in the bus, we were more than excited to get to the beach. It is so beautiful there!! My time seeing the ocean was amazing; the water is so so blue, but it was super cold! Even just getting your toes wet is enough to give you goosebumps. We spent a couple hours there relaxing in the sun and in the water before heading back to where we were staying for pizza and drinks with everyone!

Then everyone got ready to go to the bars, which was super fun. In Platteville, Long Islands are super popular at Brother's and Uno's, so of course Dee and I were excited to have one or two in Portugal!

Thursday 6/1

Lucky to say I get to spend all of June in Spain!

I got my test back today, too, and very very happy with a 100% for my first test in Spain! Since it was basically writing a short essay for two of the places we visited, I knew what to expect/how to go about it thanks to Profe's tests in Platteville! For class today, we talked about el estilo barocco - the baroque style - of art in Spain, and we went to el Hospital de la Caridad, a charity hospital that is still running today and contains a lot of beautiful baroque sculptures and paintings, as well as a beautiful church!

After class was lunch and a siesta as usual. Instead of sleeping today, I got videos/photos from my GoPro onto my computer, and started working on making the video. I hope to use it in this weekend in Lagos! No promises on when either video will be done ;)

Thursday 6/29 - My last day in Spain

Off to Sevilla after a great time in Barcelona! I woke up before 6am to get to the airport for my flight at 9. While in the plane waiting ...
